Bimbim's Team
Outcomes
Description
Bimbim’s Team: A Journey to the Planets is an international science outreach project that combines puppet theatre, audiovisual storytelling, and planetary science to engage young children (ages 2–8) with science in a playful and accessible way. Supported by FAPERJ and Europlanet, the project uses short puppet-led stories to introduce children to the Solar System, Earth, and Mars.
The project brings together artists and scientists from multiple countries and prioritises the participation of female researchers, promoting diversity, inclusion, and representation in science communication. All episodes were produced in three languages (English, French, and Portuguese) to reach an international audience and encourage early curiosity about planetary sciences among children, educators, and families.
My Role
I am the creator and lead scientist of Bimbim’s Team. I conceived the concept, characters, and narrative structure of The Bimbim’s Team, defining its educational and scientific vision. I wrote the scientific scripts for all episodes, coordinated contributions from international scientists, and ensured the accuracy and accessibility of the scientific content for young audiences. I closely followed the filming process in Brazil, reviewed the final videos, and led the dissemination strategy through scientific, educational, and outreach networks.
