ECSNet — Connecting the Next Generation of Earth & Space Scientists

ECSNet is a new international initiative designed to connect Early-Career Scientists (ECS) across all IUGG Associations. The project aims to strengthen collaboration, foster inclusion, and amplify the voices of young researchers working in Earth and space sciences.

By building a unified ECS network, ECSNet promotes international cooperation, encourages students and early-career researchers to actively engage with IUGG, and supports the next generation in shaping the future of geoscience. Through accessible and engaging content, the project also seeks to bring Earth and space sciences closer to the general public.

I initiated and developed the ECSNet concept and platform, laying the foundations for a unified Early-Career Scientists network across all IUGG Associations. I coordinate closely and maintain continuous communication with the Secretaries General and ECS representatives of each Association to generate content and curate blog contributions for the ECSNet website (https://iugg-ecs.org). Through this role, I help ensure that the platform reflects the diversity, activities, and voices of early-career researchers across the entire IUGG community.

ECSNet successfully launched a dedicated website connecting Early-Career Scientists worldwide across all eight IUGG Associations. I produce regular blog content, including engagement guides, ECS profiles, project highlights, and a video interview series. I am also responsible for coordinating and publishing ECS-related audiovisual content on the IUGG YouTube channel. A comprehensive IUGG guide, “How to Get Involved”, was also developed and made available online and as a flyer.
